It structurally acts like a wall to separate rooms and it supports a roof. Placement of a vent requires open space on its two sides (no solid structures such as walls). The blueprint can be laid atop an existing wall; the wall is replaced upon construction. I reckon I'm not using vents correctly or I have misunderstood how they work.
I currently have an issue with vents. Why cant I direct flow of air. I can create a nuclear reactor but cant close vents. Just a little rant due to the nature of the current biome i'm excessively hot summers with -30c winters. Rimworld is owned by Tynan Sylvester.

You need two or three of them to reliably transfer heat to a single mid-sized room. Usually you are better off placing a separate heater in each room and not bother with vents unless you absolutely need to.
